This book shattered me. I knew going into it that this was going to be a tough book for me to read. But I didn’t know how tough it was. I also wasn’t prepared for the range of emotions that I had while reading it. My emotions went from extreme anger to horror to happiness. It is very rare that a book can do that to me.
Only Ever You was able to grab me from the beginning and keep me reading. I actually finished the book in 1 day, that is how much I got into it. Ryder and Zeta’s story was one of the most compelling and heartbreaking stories that I have read to date.
I liked how the author split the story into 2 sections with an author’s note and prologue. I will admit, the prologue broke my heart. I was sobbing as I finished it. The prologue was needed. It set the entire tone for the whole book. The events in the first half of the book were needed also. It is where the author showed how damaged Ryder and Zeta were. How hellacious their upbringings were. How those upbringings shaped them.
The second half of the book showed the fallout from the events in the first half and the prologue. I am not going to go much into this part of the book. If I did, I would be giving away some major spoilers. I will say that Ryder was one of the most damaged heroes that I have read…ever. The raw emotion that he expressed touched me in a way that few characters do.
The love story between Zeta and Ryder was heartbreaking and hopeful. I know that is a weird combination to say but it is. I loved seeing Zeta and Ryder together. They were made for each other. But, there was a long stretch where I had doubts if they were going to even get back together. Even towards the end, I had my doubts.
I will say that I liked that the author didn’t have them have sex right away. She kept building up it up. The sexual tension drove me nuts. I kept thinking to myself “How on Earth is she not jumping on him and screaming “Do me now?“
I do want to mention that I thought Gar and Micah were idiots. Gar gave me the heebie-jeebies. That whole scene at Ryder’s Hampton house disgusted me. But it was a fantastic look at how rock stars partied. Excess to the max.
The end of Only Ever You prompted another crying jag. I was wrung out. But, at the same time, I was so happy. I couldn’t have been more happy with how the book ended. And the epilogue. I loved it!!!
Another emotional read from Ms Davis. Set in the world of juvie and rockstars. Zeta and Ryder meet in juvie and Ryder looks out for Zeta. This leads to them falling in love but circumstances force them apart. Ryder becomes a rockstar, living his life to the full. Too many excesses in order to forget. Zeta also ends up in the music business as a music journalist. After years of avoiding each other, they are thrown together and emotions run high. They must also deal with the demons from the past. The past is never truly in the past.
Be prepared for an emotional ride, heart wrenching situations, complex characters and the twists we’ve come to expect from Ms Davis. Some issues could affect sensitive readers but as always I love how they are handled. These topics draw you in and make you reflect on certain events.Personally this is what I’m looking for in a story, not just the romance or steamy scenes. Don’t get me wrong, these are always welcome!I won’t say no!!
I voluntarily reviewed an advance complimentary copy of this book.
Ms. Davis really knows how to write a story that pulls you in and is full of emotion. Only Ever You is a second chance rockstar romance that tells the story of Ryder and Zeta. They fall in love as teenagers and are torn apart only to be reunited years later.
This story deals with some heavy topics that may be triggers for some. Ryder and Zeta’s story is intense and emotional. Angst and turmoil and full of heart. A beautifully written story that will pull you apart and slowly put you back together.
I received a free Advanced Reader Copy of this book and I’m voluntarily leaving a review.
I’ve read a lot of books written by Siobhan Davis; she has written another excellent book. She is one of my favorite authors.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book. I can’t wait to read more of her books.
I loved the chemistry between the characters.
Siobhan Davis has done it again. ‘Only Ever You’ has ripped my heart apart, only to put it back together page by page.
This book is full of angst, turmoil, heartbreak, and heart-warming moments. Everything you could want from a standalone contemporary romance, Only Ever You has it!
This book has touched on a lot of tough subjects, and there are a few sensitive topics that may cause triggers so please be aware before reading.
Only Ever You starts off with Ryder and Zeta meeting while they both are in juvie.
The connection between the two is instant.
Neither of them has any family and they rely heavily on each other to make it through their time there. Ryder is battling demons that only he knows about, while Zeta is trying to make it through her own turmoil.
The things both Ryder and Zeta have gone through and continue to go through during their time in juvie will break your heart. It’s like they can’t catch a break and just when you think it can’t get any worse for them…it does.
I won’t tell spoilers but demons from Ryder’s past come back to haunt him and after he is released from juvie, Ryder and Zeta are separated.
Switch to 8 years later…
Ryder has never forgotten Zeta, Zeta has never gotten over Ryder.
Fate puts the two back in each others path BUT, those demons are still after Ryder and unfortunately, the heartache these two go through is just getting started.
There were so many times that Zeta probably should have walked away, but she saw the real Ryder and knew that he was better than the demons that haunted him. These two are the definition of true love and when times got hard even though Ryder tried to push her away, she hung on tighter.
I absolutely love Zeta, she might have broken a couple of times but she was such a strong character. Ryder, my poor sweet Ryder. There was soo many times that I wanted to slap him upside his head and hug him all at the same time.
“I love you,” I lift my head up, staring into her beautiful eyes, eyes swimming in emotion like my own. “And I need you to understand that every song I’ve written, every word I’ve put to paper, has always been about you.” – Ryder
I am a HUGE Siobhan fan, there is not much that she’s written that I haven’t read but I can almost say as far as standalone’s go, this could be one of my favorites from her. As I said, Siobhan touches on some sensitive subjects and one, in particular, doesn’t get talked about nearly enough so I’m really glad that it was a big part of this book. Only Ever You is definitely a 5 star read for me!
If you like angst, YA/NA, rockstar romances, then Only Ever You is the book for you!
*I voluntarily reviewed an advance complimentary copy of this book.
This is a hard review to write. Not because it was bad, its the complete opposite actually. It’s so full of angst, emotion, and just over all suspenseful turmoil. I found myself not able to stop reading it. even with this book being a longer one, I found myself finishing it in 2 days.
This book follows Zeta and Ryder. It goes through several stages of their lives so you get the full picture and extent of everything going on. Your heart will continue to break as you read while also healing it. So much happens in this book that makes your jaw drop and wanting to close your eyes scared to know what happens next as well as having to know what happens.
My heart was definitely given a test as I kept reading. The emotions the author puts into this book will leave you gasping for breath. It all feels so read that you will have trouble coming back to reality once you set it down. It is so beautifully written with descriptions that will make you have a movie play in your head and you will forget you were reading in the first place.
Be ready for a beautiful ride and have some tissues handy. you will definitely thank me later for having them. This is a book you will hold onto for a long time and help you look at your own life in a different way.
This book is absolutely amazing! Ryder and Zeta are such great characters. The paths their lives take them on is so bumpy, but it’s something they have to go through. My heart aches for both of them, but to see the story unfold made me happy. This is another must read from Siobhan!!
4.25-4.5 STARS
From the outside looking in, rock star Ryder Stone had it all—fame, fortune, and an endless supply of eager women. But a sordid past, long-ago buried, had cost Ryder what he desperately desired most… a life with Zeta, the one woman who would forever own his heart. Sacrificing his own happiness in an attempt to keep Zeta safe, Ryder had little choice but to let her go. And in doing so, Ryder crushed her in the process.
Battling to overcome her own past and the demons that haunt her, Zeta rose above it all, despite her shattered heart. Successful in her own right, Zeta also rivaled Ryder in the relationship department, shying away from emotional entanglements and opting for one-night stands. But despite Ryder’s betrayal, Zeta’s heart always belonged to the man who broke it. And no amount of time or distance could ever change that.
After watching Zeta from a distance for eight agonizing years, fate finally intervenes, bringing Ryder face to face with the woman he loved and lost. Reunited under professional circumstances, Ryder begins a quest to win Zeta back, vowing never to let her go again. But if Ryder wants to keep Zeta in his life, he must finally reveal his horrific truth—a truth about his past that Zeta might never be able to forgive.
With a story divided into two halves, Siobhan Davis gives readers some much-needed insight into this couple’s early romance and ultimate heartbreak, along with their eventual reunion and HEA. But it’s the horrific beginning that sets the tone for this emotionally tragic novel that tackles the type of heavy topics that this author is best known for addressing. Hence, “Only Ever You” is not for the faint at heart.
Despite his good intentions, Ryder’s actions weren’t always without reproach. And Zeta forgave a bit too easily. Still, I rooted for this couple from the very beginning and every step along the way. While their angst-filled journey was a difficult one—paved with emotional turmoil and a series of poor choices—Ryder and Zeta finally made it to the other side, where their HEA was waiting in the wings.
Wow what an amazing book. I’m not going lie though when i started reading it I quickly realised it’s very different from Siobhans other books. It starts off very dark but beautifully written. I think I went through every emotion reading this book. The characters are brilliant and my heart broke for them many times. This book is just full of surprises, they just kept on coming. I just didn’t want the book to end. I’m definitely going to be reading it again.

I loved this book, it is an awesome stand alone and has a great story. the writing style is one that I love and enjoy. take a chance and I guarantee you won’t regret it.
Much like Ms. Davis’ other contemporary novels this deals with several tough subjects. She covers them without making situations feel cliche or gauche. Zeta and Ryder’s story didn’t destroy me like some of Ms. Davis other books, but it was definitely an emotional rollercoaster! I loved how the backstory had as much importance to the present day story.
The queen of angst returns with a rockstar romance that will shred you apart. You will swoon, cry, cheer and pray for these characters.
Ryder and Zeta come together as teens, both with dark pasts, secrets and the most difficult of upbringings. They fight everyday to feel safe and protected. Their easy friendship is something they cling to. Each one each other’s anchor in the stormiest of seas. They pledge and promise a life together where there is no more pain and peace is the only thing they will know. However, promises are easily broken and all that is left is the scarred hearts and shattered dreams.
When Ryder and Zeta’s paths cross again, they have both moved on, Ryder a brilliant Rockstar and Zeta a music journalist. Fate has a funny way of bringing them together again. Ryder is the quintessential bad boy rocker, drinking, drugs, women. But nothing prepares him for having Zeta back in his life. His demons are fierce and she is the only one who can calm the storm that is Ryder’s tortured mind. Zeta, has only been existing and not really living all these years. Ryder is her heart and soul and there is no denying the explosive chemistry that is Ryder and Zeta.
Overcoming so many obstacles is what holds them together, yet tears them apart at the same time. Siobhan Davis, does not hold hold back in her graphic depiction of the rawness of mental health issues and sex abuse. Her words will dig deep into your mind and heart and leave you burning through the pages to see what happens next.
An beautiful, suspenseful, gut wrenching read.
