JosiI was so lost when he found me.A young man of no experience, not knowing what love was, but he showed me. He made me feel what it’s like to be alive and opened my eyes to what the world truly is. I’m nothing without him and he knows it because he’s nothing without me. His words are often full of praise, of need, yet I know he deserves better. I need him. I can’t live without him. I’ll adjust … live without him.
I’ll adjust to what he wants.
And maybe, when he’s ready, he’ll show me just how much he needs me too.
Bishop
Before him, I lived my life with such rigidity that my shoulders were perpetually riddled with knots. I followed a strict code.
He’s sweet and young and sees the world through a different lens which helps me relax. The rules I abide by are important for many reasons, but he makes me do things I normally wouldn’t. Things I shouldn’t, but saying no to him is not something I seem to be capable of.
To help him learn, I teach him the rules and punish him as needed.
They say love knows no bounds. That it doesn’t judge and it isn’t biased, but can it survive his recklessness and my proclivities?

Abattoir is an insanely delicious treat I unapologetically devoured in one sitting! A decadent, psychopathic love story that had me simultaneously cringing and grinning like a lunatic! Olson and Larsen slay…literally!
Succulent horror
What can I say besides would you like baked or mashed potatoes with your dinner?
I’m a big fan of Yolanda work and when this came up be as a recommendation I thought why not?
I wish this had been a longer read, there was so much cutting edge (couldn’t resist) suspense in the story line and I truly want more from these characters.
Oh, and the subtle undertones in the plot left me with all kinds of questions!
The pet next door!
The family business – how did it evolve!
A bloody good read
Holy sh*t.
Katie and Yolanda wrote a dark fantastic, gripping, page-turning story blended with love and blood
You will meet Bishop and Josiah. They have a strong love connection from start to end that will make you melt. Like any couple, they have their moments and tests. Oh, the test to prove their love…holy bloody cow. Bishop leaves for a business trip to acquire something for his company and Josiah feels something is off this time and decides to show Bishop how much he means to him with getting him a surprise. I loved how the chararters developed and grew throughout the story. As a Yolanda Olson reader, you will know nothing is as it seems and what did Bishop aquire and what kind of surprise did Josiah have?
Their was nothing dull about this story. Katie is a new author to me and the authors wrote well together making the story seamless in the writing style.
There are strong themes in this story, so there is your warning however; keep reading! This couple has one hell of a story that is told.
Our love is our bond, and that is fucking unbreakable.
This is one dark psychopathic read! And what does it say about me when I admit that I LOVED it. Not only the story but Bishop & Josiah too. While these two are really depraved, cold-blooded psychopaths they are utterly devoted to each other.
“I love you, Jos,” he breathed.
“I love you. So much,” I told him in return.
I highly recommend reading Abattoir, but having said that, IRL I would really discourage the use of internet butchers!!
Have you ever devoured a book and then questioned your motherf@cking sanity?!? Because I just did. I just giggled. Yes, giggled my way through this dark AF book. DARK AS F@CK! I giggled like a little girl getting her way. And you know what, I totally did. I ended this book with a huge smile and more laughter. It’s time to see a shrink, no doubts. But if twisted is your thing, then do yourself a favor because…yeah. Oh and M/M too, it’s like the winning Powerball ticket.
At this point I need to look for a shrink, but before I go…Happy Reading!

Humanity can be brutal. Your neighbors are likely horrible people. But love can transcend a slaughterhouse. I wouldn’t’ve believed it otherwise, but Larsen and Olson convinced me.
Abattoir is the very definition of dark reads. And in the most subtle of ways. It took me a while to figure out just what business Bishop perfected, taking over from his parents after their death. Running Abattoir is his livelihood but it’s the way he fills his orders that made me cringe. Yet somehow both Larsen and Olson made it almost palatable and the promise of a bit of M/M action almost kept me as distracted as their next victims.
Going in blind is definitely the way to go since everyone needs to have that OMG moment like I did. Both Bishop and Josiah seem pretty level-headed and actually have decent hearts. Their troubled pasts had clearly set them on the path to one another and their sexy times together was truly hot and worth the wait. But it’s the vile and disturbing ways in which they deal with ‘monsters’ and ‘animals’ that almost had me running for cover.
Looking for that darker read that isn’t too overly complicated or confusing? Then Abattoir is for you. Everything is laid out pretty simply and that low-simmering and diabolical nature of both Bishop and Josiah is both smart and precise.
Larsen and Olson write quite well together and I look forward to more from this new writing partnership. Perhaps the subject matter wasn’t necessarily a 5 for me but the way they presented it in the clean-cut, no nonsense way that they did, is worthy of that higher rating.
Well done and 5 solid stars from me.
First up, this cover is GORGEOUS. I love it!
Lordy, this book (lol)…This type of super dark “murderotica” is SO right up my alley. Strangely enough, if this were a movie, I would have been hiding under my covers. Go figure…(lol) I’ve been a fan of K Larsen for a while now, and I recently had the please of reading a short novella by Yolanda Olson (which I enjoyed a lot), so I knew going into this one I was in for one twisted and gory read…
And that is pretty much exactly what I got! I’ll also just say it is a good thing I can’t eat solid foods at the moment because I am not sure I could look at a steak right now let alone eat one. (lol) The writing was amazing. It was a relatively short book, so the story moved at a perfect pace. The plot was like a sexy horror movie. Engaging. Super dark. Super twisted. Super gross. The sex was smokin’ hot and plentiful, and I loved both the main characters. Not a whole lot left to say about it. If you are a fan of dark, then this book will be right up your alley as well!
Beautifully twisted.
Unique love story!
I’m still scratching my head after finishing this dark twisted and ghoulish romance!
Yeah I know!
What am I talking about?
This story is a unique unconventional bittersweet romance. Early on I suspected what Abattoir was, but how the story evolved and how they got to that conclusion was well worth discovering.
Well paced quick read. This story was well written, with well developed characters, and as much as I like to say they were relatable I can’t!
You don’t want to relate to these characters!
I did however got swept up into their story and I was literally white knuckling my kindle wondering what was going to happen next.
These characters were born out of dark broken circumstances and the lengths they took to prove what they had to prove was mind boggling, captivating and what the f*%k???
It was the type of read where I was… wait, wait, let me read one more page and before I knew it…boom… the end.
This book is for those of us not afraid to journey into that haunted house down that dark street and dance with the boogie man!
This story is about Bishop and Josiah. They love each other. Bishop owns and runs a Abattoir. He is very good at what he does. But he leaves Josi alone for long periods of time. “Shopping” he calls it. Josi can’t handle being by himself for that long, he needs Bishop and he’s gonna show him how much he needs and loves him.
This is a co-write. A damn good one to. You can’t tell where 1 author ends and the other one starts. That’s how I like co-writes, it’s jarring when 2 authors write and you can tell where they wrote at. But this magical gory goodness made me forget that 2 people where going back and forth writing it. Of course this is not for the faint of heart. If you have read anything by Yolanda Olson then you know all isn’t what it seems. This is the first book for me by K. Larsen and she didn’t disappoint.
ABATTOIR’ is a dark romance read by authors K. Larsen and Yolanda Olsen; this is Bishop’s and Josiah’s story. This is a
M/M dark romance/erotic horror story.
I am very familiar with author K. Larsen and look forward to anything she writes. When I heard about “Abattoir”, I was game. I’m new to Yolanda Olson but after this book, I’d love to read anything by her again.
Abattoir is deliciously dark, twisted af, and kept me constantly on my toes. If you love mindgames, twisted love, and steamy love scenes and screams. This is the read for you. Note, if you have triggers of any kind- this may not be your cup of tea. Otherwise, be prepared for utter intimacy, intensity, and insanity.
My Rating: 4.5 stars *****
I went into Abattoir blind (with the exception of the tiny little THIS IS PITCH BLACK warning from the authors) and I honestly think that’s the way to do it.
This is not a sweet M/M love story, that’s for damn sure. Oh there is love involved (and maybe a bit of codependency) but the love between Josi and Bishop is harsh and stark.
Abattoir is dark and twisted and sick and intense. Some scenes made me want to jump in bed and hide under the covers, yet I couldn’t stop reading. The twist that you know is coming draws you in and keeps you on the edge of your seat.
Well written, and regardless of my feelings on the subject matter, Abattoir is a dark horrific masterpiece. Haunting and riveting.
ab·at·toir
/ˈabəˌtwär/
noun
a slaughterhouse.
synonyms: slaughterhouse; butchery; archaic shambles
I think supper will be vegan tonight!
The title definition pretty much tells you what to expect. No rainbows and unicorns here but there is love and sometimes that’s all you need to get you through.
Love always adds light, even in the midst of madness. Bishop and Josiah’s love blanketed the darkness with a hopefulness that carried me through the more cringe-inducing parts of this story. I related to their struggles, insecurities and failings. Even with all the cray-cray, I never lost my connection to them. The darkest of souls crave the same love and acceptance that we all seek in our lives.
Abattoir is seamlessly co-written and the story flowed so beautifully, it was impossible to tell where one author left off and the other began and I loved every word.
What an amazing story! I mean, I’ve read a lot of Yolanda Olson, but she never ceases to surprise and amaze me! Each book brings me further and further to the dark side, and I love every minute of it!
It seems, when you add K.Larsen into the mix, it adds to the intensity in different ways!
If you like dark, and M/M, you’re going to love Abattoir! The relationship between Josi and Bishop is intense and wild. It may not be conventional, but you can’t stop reading! I loved every minute of it!
I’m a big fan of K. Larsen. This is my first read by Yolanda Olson. I enjoyed the writing. And I enjoyed Bishop and Josiah together. But I struggled with the storyline the further I got into the book. I did finish. Because I am a not quitter. LOL!!! But I had to put it down several times and read something lighter. Lets just say. I finally found my limit when comes to reading. LOL!! This book was not for me.
Abattoir
/ˈabəˌtwär/
noun
noun: abattoir plural noun: abattoirs
1. a slaughterhouse.
2. synonyms: slaughterhouse, butchery, knacker’s yard, shambles, butcher-row
Dark, depraved, immoral… Abattoir will have you equal parts horrified and in awe of its haunting beauty and wicked brilliance.
Yolanda Olson and K. Larsen know how to take a disturbing and unsavory topic and turn it into an unexpected darkly beautiful story. This dynamic duo was absolutely flawless in their pairing and had me cringing in disgust and fascinated at the same time with their words. They created two sinister yet somewhat sweet and vulnerable characters and weaved in an evocative love story threaded with gruesome depravity.
“I burn like the sun, scorching and fierce; and he’s like the moon, cool and collected, keeping the ebb and flow of the tides in order.”
Bishop and Josi… these two had an unbreakable bond. It was love at first sight, carnal and all-consuming. Their chemistry and passion for one another oozed off the pages and steamed up my kindle. Although Josi was riddled with insecurities, he was more than willing to prove to Bishop that he could be worthy of him and do what it takes to keep him in the only way Bishop understands, no matter how vile and horrific it may be.
Now, this is where I thrown in a big fat WARNING sign. This book is not for the faint of heart.
This book could be considered pitch black to some and depending on reader sensitivity, could also be extremely uncomfortable and destroy your sense of sanity. Me, on the other hand, I’m far from sane and lost all sensitivity a long time ago and keep falling further into the black abyss. If you love dark erotic horror, then I highly recommend this book.
“I burn like the sun, scorching and fierce; and he’s like the moon, cool and collected, keeping the ebb and flow of the tides in order.”
I’m not entirely sure what to say. A warning. Yeah, that sounds good. A huge warning sign. Read at your own risk! I’m not joking, folks. This one is pitch black!
This duo held no punches, delivering a deviously crafted masterpiece! I’m still over here shaking my head. Like, what in the hell is wrong with me. The story written extremely well, telling a taboo, fiery coupling. The passion bled from the pages. It was sickly satisfying. I can’t be judged for loving this. Mkay? And since there’s not many dark M/M books to choose from, made me love it even more. Honestly, I don’t know what category to file this in. Erotic horror, maybe. This book will have you questioning yourself. I didn’t know if I wanted to continue at one point, yet I was impulsively turning the pages in awe of it’s magnetism. The characters pushed their way into my head, leaving me unbalanced, and laughing like a lunatic.
“The monster has a name now. A face. A voice. All the things I never expected. I just wonder … does the beast bleed like the rest of us?”
I’d definitely say this is one of the darkest books I’ve read. With that being said, I highly recommend to lights out readers. Ones who like to push boundaries and play in the dark.
