Arthur Bexley’s passionate affair with a Baron’s daughter is cut short because of his father decision to send him away for a better education. This propels a cascade of unpredictable events that destroy everything years of love and friendship had built. He left just a boy, but now Arthur returns a man, six years later, with the enticing title of an Earl. To him, it seems that his love has moved … has moved on with her life. However, he discovers that time and distance had done nothing to temper the powerful feelings he had cultivated for this young beauty. Can the past lovers reunite?
Hurt, bruised and almost broken, Rebecca Fitzroy had to make sacrifices to keep her life afloat when Arthur left. His departure also left her with a scandalous secret. But now he has returned along with her yearning for his embrace. Would she threaten the stability she managed to attain by entertaining his ventures? Or is she too heartbroken to dive back into this powerful love?
Their separation left them bleeding in the past, but maybe someone was intending to keep them apart for a reason. They would have to be willing to risk a lot to reignite what had once died. Will the handsome Earl fight his social customs and discard what an Earl is expected to do to follow his heart? Will Rebecca reveal her most well-kept secret for a chance to reignite their love?

Rebecca Fitzroy and Arthur Bexley were in love and secretly engaged to be married. Author wanted Rebecca to make love with him. She refused and once again he got angry she got scared stripped off her dress and her petticoat in her chemise and her drawers and said she was ready. They made love on the night of the ball at his parents’ house. As they entered the house author sister Lady Teresa met them and said that their father wanted to speak with Arthur. Arthur was told that he was leaving for London on the next day where he would spend six months learning how business went. He left. Rebecca came to see him Lady Teresa told her that he had left going to London and that he had not left her a note or any kind of message for her. She tried to see his mother and Lady Teresa would not let her so she returned home. There she went into a deep decline and finally ran away from home to a church on the other side of town he felt better. To discover the consequences of her and authors night of love you must read the book. To discover the links that Lady Teresa went to you have to read the book. It’s a good book it starts in 1915 and then jumps to 1921 and though I don’t care for this time. I was impressed with the book and finally couldn’t put it down until I finished it. It’s a little steamy but it’s a good book…
Six long years were denied Arthur and Rebecca because of Teresa’s lies and manipulations. When Arthur’s father (the Earl) dies, he returns home and sees Rebecca at the funeral and attempts to reconnect with her. There are a lot of secrets to be learned, lies to be corrected and old loved to be continued. This was a great read, the characters were well written except at times Arthur seemed to be weak, but in the overall scheme of the book he became the man he needed to be. I loved the story and would highly recommend it as a great read.
This story had the right combination of heartbreak, loss, secrets and coming to terms with the past to keep me reading just to see if the person who was causing all these problems got their “just deserts” this was an ARC from the author and my honest review
