What’s a good girl to do when she gets dumped via an email that’s CCd to all her best friends?a. run her jerkface ex-boyfriend over with a semib. hire a hit man on Craigslistc. try online dating with her best friends cheering her on Alas, online dating isn’t what it’s cracked up to be. But just when I’m about to give up, CJ appears. A Silicon Valley billionaire. Hot. Smart. Makes me tingle in … Smart. Makes me tingle in places I didn’t know could tingle. So perfect I’d ignore the humiliation of ending our first encounter with him clutching my bad-luck panties against his tight abs…except he’s a player. The exact opposite of what I need.
But “no” is not part of his vocabulary. He wants me and pursues me relentlessly. He pops up as best man at my friend’s wedding, at my office, in my home. He’s sending me flowers, chocolates, coffee beans, you name it. Plus he kisses like he invented the action. It’s like he knows all my weaknesses and is launching a siege.
Then my world implodes, and I realize being good and responsible is overrated. Can the wild player handle this former good girl?

Loved this series
Sweet, sexy, funny and wonderful friendship makes this a great read. Love the sisterhood with our heroine Michelle and her besties Jan and Sammi. Who knew the gorgeous bombshell has insecurities? It just makes her so cute and likable. I loved Michelle. She is both confident and insecure which makes her complex. While Michelle is all about the happily ever after with the perfect wedding, the man that comes to her aid on more than one occasion is the opposite. CJ is a swoon-worthy hunk that decides he wants Michelle but is adamantly opposed to a relationship that’s more than sex. Love the characters and the terrific friendship in this story. The ending seemed a little rushed and things wrapped up as expected. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.
And then there was one girl left. In the previous two books in the series Michelle had a front row seat of seeing her BFFs Jan and Sammi find their happily ever after now it is her turn to shine. What is interesting about Michelle is that she seems to be so “put together” & a strict rule follower at least to the outside world. Then enters CJ who comes and mixes it up for her. The pairing is interesting because relationship outlook was deeply affected by their respective parents’ marriages. I won’t give away too much, but I think in the end their pairing both things in perspective for both characters. Some characters got away a little too easy, but that’s just my opinion. Overall, I really liked this book and the mention of a certain character from a previous book. As always, I am looking forward to the next adventure from the author.
All Michelle’s wanted in her life is two things: to have a successful career to be able to prove to her parents that she’s worthy of being their daughter, and the whole fairytale-style marriage that her parents have. So to that end, she’s been going on a bunch of, unfortunately, unsuccessful dates with men who turn out to be losers. She likes rules and structure so her job in HR fulfills that. Her side job as a honeypot helps fulfill the financial part of the success her parents have driven her to believe she needs. And then she meets CJ, who’s challenged by Michelle’s apparent non-interest in him and in violating her company’s non-fraternization policy. But no matter, CJ loves the chase. And chase he will because Michelle more than interests him.
But what happens when he lands the girl, then says something so stupid and hurtful that he loses her? What happens when Michelle throws his words back at him and decides to use him the way he was using her? Does he wise up, take his head out of his ass and realize the feelings he’s had all along? Or does he go along with Michelle’s determination to give him what he had said he wanted originally?
I like That Wild Player. I don’t love it, but I love Michelle and the relationship she has with her girlfriends. Together the bunch of them are funny, supportive and loyal to each other. Unfortunately I’m not in love with CJ. He’s sort of a pale version of the type of hero I most prefer. Sure he’s sorta sexy when he’s pursuing Michelle, but once he had her he was lackluster. I really hated how he hurt Michelle toward the end. What he said was extremely painful for her to have thrown at her, all because his stupid ass was panicking. Ick. He’s the sole reason for 4 rather than 5 stars. I wanted Michelle to be paired with a hero as equally awesome as she is, because she deserved better than a guy who gave her some orgasms then bailed when he panicked. And THEN had the nerve to turn right around and try to get her back. I have to say that I do like his grand gesture, but for me it was a bit too little too late for a heroine who should have had someone all in the entire time.
Michelle has spent her whole life trying to live up to the ideals of what a perfect woman her mother would want her to be like. She really wants the marriage her parents have. She even dated the proper, boring man that her mother would approve of and went out of her way to do everything right…until it blew up in her face. She ends up getting dumped via a group email. That’s when Michelle decides to just start getting into dating field by throwing herself out there. CJ seems like the perfect guy, except he’s seen her on bad days plus he is total anti-commitment. CJ believes Michelle is jaded about marriage as he is, because she works part time as a honeypot for a local PI for a 2nd job. Things change between then as they start hooking up.
Their chemistry was tangible and super steamy. Wow! Michelle was knocked for a loop by her discovery but I mourned how she loss the faith and belief in her fairytales. I loved how the pace of this story went and the secondary characters added to this sweet and sexy story.
My Rating: 4.5 stars *****
I really enjoyed this book especially CJ. I loved the way he was wooing Michelle, but also how Michelle showed him what he was missing in his life; The “Michelle Experience”. CJ’s grand gesture swoon worthy material for sure. There was the perfect amount of humor and heart. Michelle and CJ had some steamy chemistry, but with smooth talking CJ there was no doubt. I also enjoyed we got to catch up with Michelle’s friends to see how they’re enjoying their HEAs.
