The conclusion to the In The End duologyWelcome to the new world. We thought we were the last and all we had to do was survive the initial outbreak. Turns out the hard part is surviving each other. Man, the post-apocalypse is brutal. Most of the runners have phased out, but a fraction have survived. They are smarter, faster, and way more deadly. When Jace’el and I are stranded in the middle of … deadly.
When Jace’el and I are stranded in the middle of nowhere and all our supplies are stolen, we have no choice but to join another group of survivors. But they’re leading us into an underground bunker, which severely limits our escape routes.
We were supposed to be safe, but the virus has mutated, making the infected smarter than anyone ever thought possible.
Our only hope for survival is to make it to the Tower, where we’ll be safe behind walls with a group of survivors just like us.
That is, if we can outrun the creatures hunting us because safety is really only an illusion.
I am Raylinn Marrow, and this is the end of the beginning.

Aliens, a virus and zombies… Oh My!!!
Raylinn and Jace are back and still trying to survive through each day in this thrilling, frightening and fast paced sequel!! Their world continues to fall a part and no where is truly safe. With the race to attain a cure seriously ramping up, and danger waiting around every corner, it’s up to Ray and Jace to save the day along with a few new characters. We get to see deeply felt emotions, such as loss and love and how grief sometimes takes time to fully process when you’re just trying not to die. The tender moments absolutely break you heart a bit and shows us a love that can stand through any trial! This was well written and expertly solves any lingering thoughts from the first book. The anticipation of what will happen next will definitely have you turning those pages!! This is a brilliant conclusion and Ali Winters has put her heart into telling this story so beautifully!! Do not miss out in this memorably haunting and chill inducing duology!!!
I have no words for this book. This is amazing series that will have you loving this book series. I was hooked from the first book tell the very ending of this book. It is amazing read and i don’t like SCI books but this was a must read as the first book drawn me in. So i had to read this book to know how it would happen, and I’m so glad that i did.
Enjoyed the narrator’s main voice; her voice for Ray. Her male voice for Jace needs a little work; too nasally, but I really enjoyed the listening experience. She did a great job.
I’d recommend reading the first book before this one for the full story. This book picks up 2 years after the events of the first book. Ray and Jace are trying to survive in a post apocalyptic world with Runners (think zombies but not quite) on the loose and looking to kill. There’s those you can trust, but also those that are out just for themselves. Ray and Jace often find themselves in plenty of dangerous situations. I really enjoy the adventure and the survivor mentality needed for surviving in this post apocalyptic world. Makes for a fun read and totally love this type of premise. The suspense and danger are great!
Love that Jace and Ray are still connected; love how sweet they are with each other and how protective they are of each other. Too cute! I wanted more of them! They have a heartfelt connection.
What kept this from being 5 stars for me was that I felt Ray should’ve been way better at surviving after the 2 year time jump from the end of the first book than she was. 2 years is a long time, so I felt Ray should’ve been a bit more warrior than damsel, but that wasn’t the case. I just feel they should’ve been further along; have accomplished more. I also wanted Ray to speak up more and to not just go with the status quo; not be so accepting of people just disrespecting Her and Jace. I wanted more in the ending too; like what was going on with Russ’ (I think that was his name) attitude, and more focus on the alien aspect of the story.
Still a totally entertaining story! Post apocalyptic stories are one of the top of my favorites to read. A fun, interesting series! Good times!
OMG if you thought book one was good well hang on to your hat cause this second book will just blow you away! Raylinn and Jace are back and are trying to survive in this fast paced emotional conclusion! You will literally be on the edge of your seat and I do warn you there a few moments you may need a tissue ( I did!) There’s action, there’s romance, there’s loss and there’s suspense and the author has done a fantastic job drawing me into this world! A duology I would definitely recommend!
