He took everything from me. My memories, my sanity – my freedom.I don’t know who I am or why I’m here. All I know is that I’m his captive, his toy, his clueless slave. Pain meets pleasure with fiery kisses as he molds me into the person he says I’m supposed to be.But who is that person? And who was I before him?I hate him for this.I fear him like no one else. And I’m drawn to him like a moth to … no one else.
And I’m drawn to him like a moth to the flame.
Every stroke of his hand brings me closer to the truth.
But when the veil of mystery is finally lifted, it only gives rise to more questions – and more dark secrets between us.
This is part 1 of a Dark Romance Duet. Both parts are now available.

Well, the story grabs you from page 1. Petal is her name, that’s what she is told by a mysterious man. She’s locked in a room with no windows and must obey. There is lots of mystery and every page brings something else for you as the reader to consider. You have to keep turning the page. Every page brings more information to you but also makes you wonder, what the heck is going on, it’s totally addicting. How did Petal get there? Why is Petal there? Who is Malia, and most importantly who is Jay.
Lost Petal is a dual POV, dark romance book. The story begins with Petal waking up in a room, alone, without any memory of her real name, who she is, or how she got there. We soon meet J, who is her captor. He tells her that her name is Petal, but he won’t give her any other information about who she is, how she got there, or why she is there. As the story progresses, the reader is given hints that there is much more to this story than originally expected. The reader is also given tidbits of information that Petal and J actually knew each other prior to Petal waking up. The bulk of this book focuses on Petal’s struggle with the loss of her memory/identity and trying to figure out why she is being held “prisoner.” It also shows the struggle that J is experiencing with what he has done to Petal and the idea that he is doing to this to try and help her. Lost Petal is not a story about someone that was a victim of sex trafficking or some of the other dark romance storyline variations. The book ends in a type of cliffhanger with Petal seeing something that helps her begin to make sense of her situation, but the reader doesn’t know what it is (yet). I really enjoyed this book and the author’s writing style. The author did a great job of gradually revealing the story without revealing too much information about the story. The author was able to keep me guessing, trying to figure out what was going on, and coming up with predictions the whole time that I was reading. I have a lot of ideas about what is really going on with J and Petal, so I’m looking forward to reading the next book, Fallen Petal, to see where their story will go and end.
This is a fascinating book, the reader is very like Petal in that they have no knowledge of what is happening. Instinctively, the reader trusts Jayson had Petal’s best interests at heart perhaps because of Malia or because Petal herself instinctively trust him even if she doesn’t want to. I am really looking forward to the next book.
This is by far the best book I’ve ever read. I finished it in a couple hours. It is so addictive and good. I am so obsessed and in love with this book! I cant wait for the second one because it was impossible to stop reading. I hope the author doesnt make me wait to long for the second! I definitely recommend this book to anyone! It constantly keeps you wondering what is gonna happen next and is a page flipper I promise you! I absolutely love petal and in a way I even love J. He is a character whose feelings are hard to determine. He can be mean and cruel but also caring and in a way I think he does love petal. I love this author and cant wait for more
Holy Cliffhanger!!!! What a well written book, had me hooked from page one. Great start to a dark new series. Can’t wait to read the next book!!
This dark and mysterious story begins with a young woman who awakens in a locked cell-like room. She has no memories, doesn’t even know her name. J, her captor, calls her Petal and his sole purpose seems to be to not just to bend her to his will but to break her completely. The question is why?
This story pulled me right in. Petal’s frustration and fears became mine. I can’t pretend to understand J’s twisted thinking, how he can find pleasure in her pain, enjoyment in her tears. What I do know is that there is much more to this story than has been revealed so far. It teases with the promise of answers but the revelations just lead to even more questions. The story is disturbing. The sex scenes are dark but erotic. I can’t wait for this mystery to be unraveled.
I am voluntarily reviewing an advance reader copy of this book.
She awakes in a room, no sounds, no idea of what she looks like or who she is. The man who walks into that room says she is Petal. But who is Petal?
This book plays with the mind, specifically that of our Petal and of the reader because as the story goes on we start to build a picture, but not a complete one, one that tells us this is not an isolated taking, the other woman who feeds her, the man who has her, these are all people from a past life. Her life.
Yes so this little psychological thriller/erotica plays with you and you are left wondering and wanting of the whole story, why and how did she end up in that house. Hopefully the next installment in this series will reveal more of this story for us.
Lost Petal is dark and decadent. It is also hot, steamy, sexy, smooth flowing read that grabs your attention from the start.
The characters were realistic and believable. There is mystery and many twists and turns as well as unpredictable surprises.
Thus is part one of two of a two book series and therefore a cliff hanger
I voluntarily submitted an ARC review for this book

OMG! What a mindfuck!
This was such a fantastic book that I found it hard to finish. I didn’t want it to end!
So dark and dirty, this is suspense at it’s best. I can not recommend this book enough.
What the actual fuck is going on? What did she see? Who is she?
I have SO MANY questions!
I am craving the next book already!
Linnea May
This book draws you right in from the start. We start out with Petal waking in a cell. From there, we take a journey with J and Petal. It kept me interested because it gave me little pieces of information about Petal and her past. I can not wait to find out what happens! I am voluntarily writing a review from an ARC.
I received an ARC of Lost Petal and finally nitched out a bit of time to read it. First of all, you won’t want to put it down. This is a romantic psychological thriller. I don’t yet want to call it “erotic” as the sexiness is fairly tame thus far. I imagine in Fallen Petal Linnea May will ratchet it up. However, the call of this book is Petal, the main heroine. She has seemingly been taken and her memory has been erased. She does not know who she is. Her captor, J, only feeds her very little information, but he is smitten, obsessed, with her. He wants her, but he knows he must temper his lust for her, or he will drive her away.
Like Petal, the reader remains in the dark throughout the story. I have suppositions about Petal’s background, but, even at the end of Lost Petal, I am not entirely sure. And, quite frankly, I love that I’m still in the dark.
This book is engaging. While it does end on a cliffhanger, I don’t feel “shortchanged” by the book. Instead, I am anxiously awaiting the second book in the duet to see if my deductions are correct. Even more, will Petal end up with J? I sure hope so.
Overall:
Great read! Kept me anxiously turning the pages. Ready for the next book.
INTENSE! The reader is kept on edge from the start just like the main character. Waking with no memory of who she is or her past. In a bare all white room. Keeps you on edge. Slowly you start getting insight into her captor. Great preview into another MUST READ Dark series by author Linnea May! I can’t wait to read Part 2.
Dark and Intriguing!!
We wake along with Petal in a cell. No memory of what came before. The man holding her reminisces about events prior to her arrival under his “care”. A young lady Malia, forbidden to talk to her, delivers food. One slip by Malia reveals a key element from their past.
To say anymore would divulge too much. It is dark romance at its best. The mystery is not resolved in this book – so hold on to your hats for book #2!!
*** I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book ***
I don’t know how to collect my thoughts after reading this story.
Lost Petal is really special book.I was pulled into the story from the very first page.I loved it immediately. The mystery of this book is what draw me in the most.Readers, just like Petal don’t have idea what’s really happening in this book. And I liked that.I was curious as to who is Petal, what happend to her and who is J and who is Malia??
So many questions…and no answers. The suspense was killing me.
As far as plot goes this book was brilliant.Like I sad before it suspenseful, mysterious and dark, you have no idea what is happening but you just can’t stop reading.
Petal and Jayson as a characters were very likable.
When Petal wakes up,she has no memories of herself, her life or anything really. But she is not weak, right the opposite, she is strong, smart and defiant.I loved how she wasn’t scared or submissive.
Jayson is quite enigma here.At first we know nothing about him,not even his name.As the story progresses you can see that he knows Petal from before and that he cares about her, maybe even loves her?
What I didn’t like about this book was submissive s**t Jayson expects from Petal.I’ve never was into “Yes,master” and “You are mine to train” kind of thing,so this is something that bothered me while reading.
I’m definitely curious about the rest of the characters, mainly Malia and Christoper.
This book ends on cliffhanger so…I just have to wait some time.
And can I just say that the cover is absolutely amazing!!!!
Petal wakes up without any knowledge of who she is or where she is at. She has to rely on Jayson (J) and Malia, the two people who have imprisoned her. This was a compelling dark romance. The story was extremely well written, with interesting characters and a mysterious storyline that will keep you turning the pages. If you like dark romance this is definitely a must read.
This book does end on a cliffhanger but the next book is scheduled to be released in December.
I voluntarily received an advanced arc copy for an honest review.
Linnea does not disappoint with another great book that guarantees will be the beginning of an awesome series. So much intrigue and mystery. I totally ignored my family because I was so engrossed in this book. There is a cliffhanger so be aware.
WOW!!! This was so full of mystery and you cant turn the pages fast enough the reader is as lost as Petal with so many questions as to why shes there and cant remember anything about her life only to rely on Malia and Jayson who have imprisioned her. This was exciting and I loved her strength and couldn’t get enough and want answers. I cant wait for more.
I’ve now finished the book and I still don’t quite understand what I’ve just read. This story is like the twisted descent into madness. Or perhaps it’s the spiraling ascent from there. Either way, it’s a mind-bending piece of WTF-ery. Everyone seems to have their own agenda and we can only see the faintest silhouette of any of them. And just when it looks like we’re going to see the answers to Petal’s most pressing questions, the book is over. So, be aware that there’s a very sudden, very steep cliff-hanger ending in your future with this book. It is, however, a guarantee that I’m hanging in for the next one.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.
This book is super interesting and full of mystery and suspense! I was engaged the whole time, hoping desperately to catch a glimpse of who Petal was and what exactly happened to her. Jayson is confusing and there has got to be more to him than meets the eye. There’s got to be more to this whole book than meets the eye! I stuck around because I knew there would be a cliffhanger, but I wasn’t expecting so many loose ends without any developments. I guess I should’ve been prepared for this feeling… I was warned. But now so are you! Definitely wouldn’t go into this book if you are an impatient reader like me. But book 2 is coming out in December so our wait won’t be too long!
