Crystal Cove Can Make It Scary To Be Single Cari King isn’t exactly afraid to be alone–it’s all she knows after all. Despite an idyllic setting where romance blooms, her leading men are limited to the slasher heroes in her favorite horror flicks. At least Freddy, Jason and even Michael can’t slash her heart to pieces. Mason Myers has other plans for her heart–like owning it. They flirt like … They flirt like fumbling teenagers each time Cari comes to rent movies from his video store. Halloween is their favorite holiday so Mason plans an epic movie-a-thon. Scary movies and popcorn with just the two of them. Every night. All month long. Scary Smart.

Mason Myers and Cari King as as sweet as Swedish Fish! This is a horror flick loving friends to lovers romance that you can’t help but have a smile on your face throughout the story. Their friendship has always been strong but feelings were never divulged to one another for so many years. Seeing both Cari and Mason push that friendship barrier is hot and steamy time and time again. I always love heading back to Crystal Cove, it’s such a wonderful little town filled with so many lovable people. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
Found love at the movies
What a slow and sweet burn. Mason and Cari loved each other since their teens but were afraid to tell the other in case it wasn’t reciprocated. Life took them in other directions and when Cari comes back to town they finally take the steps to show how they feel. Mason’s feelings of doubt threaten to ruin everything until he makes a grand gesture to try to save what they have. Wonderful story of love that spans years that in a short story can happen in a blink. So good!!
5 Stars…
Such a short, sexy, sweet and dirty feel good story!
Oh this book was adorable! As I think about it, I don’t know how I can say it’s adorable when there are some incredibly steamy scenes in there. So hot, I was blushing. That is when I wasn’t smiling and giggling. Yes, I said giggling. Don’t know if the author categorizes this book as a romcom, but I found many moments to be refreshing and amusing.
Mason and Cari…..
Mason and Cari grew up together and spent a lot of time at the movies watching their favorite genre of horror flicks. As friends. They had a special bond from the very beginning. Unfortunately this is one of those stories where either character was afraid to admit their true feelings concerned they might ruin their relationship dynamic if the other didn’t feel the same.
Mason’s heart broke when Cari left Crystal Cove for college and to pursue a career in filmmaking. He regrets not asking her to stay, or asking if he could follow her. Years pass and Cari returns to the magical, romantic town of Crystal Cove. Will Mason finally make a move?
When Cari starts to spend a lot of time in Mason’s store, he wonders about what could have been. With a little push from his brass, take-no-prisioners cousin, Shelby, Mason asks for a date. But it’s not just any date. They will have a horror movie marathon each night leading up to Halloween.
There are some bumps in the road for these two sweet characters and even a miscommunication here and there. But they work it out. And the epilogue is perfect!
Scary Single is a short and quick read. Literally, I finished this book in a couple of hours. That said, this book is hot and dirty and the intimacy between Mason and Cari is scorching. Because it is so short and straight to the point, there really isn’t a lot of complexity or character development which I expect in novellas. That said, this is one of my favorite books in the Crystal Cove Holidays series. I highly recommend this sexy, spooky little gem.
This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂
