Karis Begay is the only surviving heir to the Begay wolves of the Alaskan Pack. Someday she will take her place as Pack Mother which is a lifelong burden she has always carried with pride. It kept her isolated from others and hesitant to let anyone close to her. As she enters her freshman year at Archibald Reynolds College, no one knows who she is or who she is destined to become. It’s a chance … chance at a fresh start, and just maybe… the beginning of something new.
Damon Rossi has been on his own, torn between two packs, most of his life. His true family was found in his brothers of Delta Omega Gamma. Sadness and depression loom over him as he faces his senior year not ready to move on to the next chapter in his life. That is, until he catches the scent of his one true mate. That scent drives his wolf wild as Damon struggles to dominate the previously docile creature as it surges with newfound powers he doesn’t understand.
Damon will do anything to be with Karis, but how will he respond when she tells him her secret—mating her seals his fate as Alpha.
When Karis’s life is threatened, Damon’s powers peak. Can he control them? Or will his wolf be too powerful? Will he find peace with his spirit animal in time to save Karis or face the regret of lost love?

Another great start to a new series! The beginning was a little slower than her other books (mostly because of my preference that the main characters be together as much as possible), but it was needed for the plot so I’m not too upset over it. 🙂 Awesome characters. Can’t wait for the next book!
*WARNING* intended for mature audiences
I enjoyed this one. I was waiting for the rejection from Karis and that kept on the edge of my seat. Damon was a good sport about Tyler and I was impressed with how that turned out. Great characters. Great story. Well written.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved the connection between Karis and Damon, when they both finally worked out that their wolves were behaving differently than usual because they’ve found their true mates without even realising it. Damon’s wolf was really aggressive and he wasn’t in harmony with his wolf which was also freaking him out. Even though Karis had scented Damon she had a boyfriend and she didn’t want to hurt him plus she needed to be sure of Damon as the person who Karis mates with becomes the Alpha Heir to the Alaskan Pack and she also needed to know that he wasn’t planning on running when she got around telling him what mating her would entail and that he also would be accepting her claim for the right reasons and not to become an Alpha of a Pack. I liked how close Damon and Karis were when they stopped fighting their bond and loved how open and honest they were with each other, especially Damon and I loved that Karis trusted him to tell the truth even before they’d bonded as they were connected at a deeper level rather early on. I loved how both Jenna and Kelsey befriended Karis and gave her some solid advice and that everything she was feeling while they haven’t completed their bond and even after they’ve completed it they won’t be able to keep their hands to themselves and it’s a completely normal reaction. I’m looking forward to reading Chad’s book next since he was introduced in Book 1 of this series. I’d recommend this book, series, Westin World Universe and author to everyone.
10/2018 Pack’s Promise (ARC Shifters #1)
I can’t help but sound like a broken record, but Ms. Trettel has done it again! “Pack’s Promise” is the latest amazing, PNR stand-alone that’s kind of a spin-off from her other phenomenal series and IMHO deserves 6 stars! I was hooked from the start not wanting to stop whenever my real life got in the way! lol 😉 I can always count on a fresh, new storyline from this author, never a ho-hum carbon copy! A brand new shifter romance with suspense & likable characters, some new and some past familiar favorites drop in to add to the ever-present witty dialogue. Plus, I can’t forget to mention the attention to detail and surprise twists that will have readers glued to their seats & turning pages like crazy! I honestly recommend this to adult fans of fiction and can’t wait for more of these fantastic must reads, but I will!
